Express Zip Free Compression Software

NCH Software - 1.54MB (Freeware)

Description

Express Zip File Compression Software is an archiving and compression tool that lets you easily extract, edit, and create zipped files and folders for extraction purposes.

Express Zip is fast efficient way to zip and unzip files of all your important docs, images, music and more. In term of size, Express Zip is comparatively tiny at under a megabyte. The interface is...basic, but fully functional, and has all the tools most users could reasonably expect from a file compression program. The icons clearly represent their functions, and the help section is comprehensive, easy to navigate and fully functional off-line.

There’s not a lot we can say about Express Zip File Compression that you won’t find out yourself in a few moments of installing.

Express Zip is also compatible with all the main compression filetypes such as .RAR, .ISO and .7Z, and all the others. A nice highlight of the software is its two click direct email feature which is refreshingly easy to do. Archiving files to DVD and CDs, and other storage media is also catered for quite well.

Key Features:

  • Quickly create new zip files.
  • Burn archived files to CD/DVD for long term backup.
  • Create or open encrypted zip files.
  • Email zip files in two easy clicks.
  • Open and extract files other archives including .RAR and .ISO.

There are two version of Express Zip, a free one and a premium one you pay for. We only tested the free version and found it to be efficient and fully featured.

The only thing we’ll say about the free version is that you will occasionally be asked to make sure you are using it for non-commercial use and be prompted to upgrade to the ‘pro’ version. It does show ads for other products created by the same design team. That said, we found them to be unobtrusive and didn’t detract from using the software. Overall, Express Zip is a fully formed, decently featured compression software that does all that you would expect from compression software.

For those not in the know ‘zipping’ files is a way of reducing or ‘archiving’ files in such a way that they remain unaltered but their overall size is reduced. Put simply, a file with a .ZIP extension is a compressed file and the most widely used archive format in the world today.
