Zune software is a digital media jukebox that enables you to organise your favorite music, videos, and pictures.You used to be able to use Zune software to locate music on Zune Music & Video Marketplace - but Zune Marketplace now no longer supports rental and purchases. Xbox Music and Xbox Video are now Microsoft’s music and video stores.
You can still use the Zune PC software to playback already downloaded songs and albums, although no new content is available. If you want new content then you need to visit Xbox Music and Xbox Video accordingly.
The first thing you notice about Zune is the fact that the user interface is clean and and crisp. The app lets you have simultaneous photo and music playback and there are a few other features, but on the whole this is an orphaned product with limited codec support and is quite dated.
Zune Software was succeeded by the Windows Phone App as a desktop sync service for Windows Phone 8.
